Garmin homeport setup video5/16/2023 If you are just trying to find the direction to your Geocache and do not want to receive this error message then we will need adjust some of the routing options on your device. It's about the 6th conversation down, and it is:Īre you trying to navigate on roads and get turn by turn directions? You will need to purchase a map with routable roads on it such as the City Navigator or TOPO 24K map. It seems others have the same problem, so here's the stink on it. I finally stumbled on the answer, and the challenge will be to recall this in the field (lake?). ![]() It presented as a maze of highlighted lines. Then it joined each island on the lake to the shore roads. I was quite "T"d at the fact that, just as with the previous unit, my planned routes showed on the unit. So, I've tested the saltwater resistance of it as I dry tears from its predecessors passing. Otherwise, same menus, same buttons, same satellite options, etc. It has to be moving for the compass to work, and a few more treats are missing. So, as so many people I paddle with use them, I had to spend the big bucks again, but bought the one that was one level lower. Someone probably can't figure why this "phone" or "camera" doesn't work and passed it on to a delighted child. Casually, I placed it on the rooftop of my car "just for now". I had bought this unit one month ago, and was greatly infatuated with it. rather than directly link waypoints over the water. The problem with the latter is that some route "profiles" might be preprogrammed to use roads/paths/ferries etc. In many programs you can create routes either by drawing on the map or by importing a number of way points as start, via and finish points and then ask the program to calculate the route. I have just successfully created a route in Basecamp to test it works. I do not create routes on the computer before going on a trip because I like my trip planning to be flexible so on the GPS (if I needed to use the GPS to help a particular section of the route that is in my head, perhaps because of a strong tide or darkness) I use FIND on the GPS and select the waypoint I loaded from the computer, which I want to get to, then select "offroad". On a PC you can use either program but I have found Homeport crashes too frequently to be usable on a Mac. Mostly I just create waypoints on the computer using Garmin Homeport or Basecamp then transfer them to the GPS. Hello adventureagent, I also use a Garmin GPSMAP 64S.
